I wanted to do a new veggie for the babe and picked up an acorn squash. It turned out nice and it was easy. For maybe $2.00 I made about 12 servings, and it looks so pretty too. :)
1 medium sized acorn squash
Wash the out sides of the squash and the pears. Cut the squash in half and scoop out the seads. In a shallow baking dish, cut side down add about 1/4 inch of water. Put it in a preheated 400 degree oven and bake for 30-35 minutes.
Quarter and core the pears and put the pieces in a steaming basket over boiling water (0r simmer in a little bit of water until tender). About 10-12 minutes depending on how ripe your pears were.
When the squash has cooled and so have the pears, scoop the flesh of the squash into a blender with the pear. You can scrape the flesh of the pear from the skin if you want or puree it with the skin on. I guess it depends on how smooth you want it or how much consistency your baby can handle.
